Our program brings Castro Elementary School students into the Mountain View Senior Center Garden on Tuesday afternoons for a one-time visit. With a ratio of 3-4 students per volunteer, students benefit by interacting with adults, learning new vocabulary words and having an opportunity to ask questions while exploring new and authentic insights into nature's life cycle. No gardening experience needed. We do not ask you to plant, hoe, water or weed! Volunteer training provided.Skills:Love of children, literacy in English, and desire to help children excel! Most of the children in our program do not have parents who read/write English and can help them learn new vocabulary words.
