Organization: The Tech Museum of Innovation [More Info]Volunteers Needed: 40Estimated Time: 8 hours per MonthLocation: 201 Market StreetSan Jose, CA 95113Great For: 55 Inspire the Next Generation of Silicon Valley Innovators: Volunteer at The Tech Museum The Tech Museum of Innovation has open shifts on weekdays for volunteer Exhibit Explainers who have a strong interest in science and technology. Exhibit Explainers interact with museum guests of all ages by assisting guests to explore exhibits and sharing their knowledge of the science/technology beind the exhibit. They may also perform interactive science and technology demonstrations. Volunteering at The Tech has its benefits. The Tech offers free admission, store and cafe discounts and free parking to its volunteers. it also provides ongoing training and workshops in exhibits, technology and customer service. Tech volunteers receive awards, recognition and gain professional experience while giving back to the community. A science/technology background is helpful but not required to become a Tech volunteer as full training is provided. The Tech's volunteer staff is quite diverse and includes business people, senior citizens, teachers, students, parents and more.
